OBJECTIVES
I want to create dances that are meaningful to myself, to my dancers, and to my audience. I aim to affect peoples’ ways of thinking, and perception through my own personal creative process, which communicates information about intellectual, social, and political issues. I hope to create works that evoke emotion and instill benevolence, by building an understanding of individual circumstance, to help connect and grow the people of the world through community. I choose to dig into topics that explore and showcase issues that profoundly affect people. I want to show others how dance can open new pathways of understanding of personal experiences and social or political circumstances.
I’m interested in raising awareness about issues like addiction, rehabilitation, eating disorders, self-image, mental illness, disabilities, environmental concerns political stances, topics of debate, and current issues.
Through my choreography I want to push the boundaries of political, emotional, and social problems that are not often openly discussed or addressed. I want to push the boundaries of existing knowledge to help heal and grow the world around me.I believe the more ways people can absorb information about current events through different media, the more growth and understanding communities will have to deal and problem solve the events before them. Movement is a means of finding a deeper connection to something meaningful in life, while simultaneously communicating these discoveries to others.
